"Oh my god." Sally was a little breathless. "That was the BEST kiss ever!" Joel smiled at her, proud of himself. "Seriosuly." She laughed. "Incredible." He flopped onto the bed beside her and laughed. Without a word, he launched back into kissing her. She threw her arms around his neck and they leaned so that Sally was lying on the bed and Joel was above her. He moved his hands across her ribcage, caressing her figure and kissing her violently. His lips where so soft against hers as they moved against eachother. She held her hands just above his hips and held him tight. His rough but beautiful technique just made her hold him closer. All of a sudden, she got a sick feeling. She stopped kissing him and pushed him back a little bit, but not in a forcefull way.
"What's wrong baby?" He put his hand on her face.
"Laurri." She wriggled from underneath him and picked her coat up, heading for the door. "I'll see you later, yea?" She waved flirtily. He nodded and waved back. She passed Laurri on the way out. A friendly smile dismissed any suspition.
"Hey!" Laurri kissed Joel's cheek on the way in. He hugged her gently. "How are you?"
"Oh I'm fine thanks." He smiled. "You?" She told him about her day. "Oh, I've been with Sal. It was really funny right, I ki...." He stopped as he remembered Laurri was his girlfriend and he'd gone to say kissed. "Kicked the table and she fell over laughing." He laughed in a pathetic cover up of his mistake. Luckily she bought it. He was sick of having to cover up his affair. He liked Laurri alot, he really did but he felt something different for Sally. Something he shouldn't feel. Something that scared him. He had to do something about it. "Hang on." He interrupted Laurri and ran to find his phone. He returned and began texting Sal while talking to Laurri. *I need to see you, I have something to tell you and something to suggest. See you at 7 in the park.*
Sally waved across the field to an eagerly waiting Joel. As she got closer she could see his expression was different. Indescribable, he looked like he was excited, but dreading whatever he was going to do. He walked a little way forwards to meet her and after taking a quick glance around, he grabbed her close and kissed her with passion. "Right, I just wanted to talk to you about something." He held her hands. "I was wondering, errm, how much do you love me?" He looked to the floor in embaressment.
"I love you more than I love anyone or anything in the world." She lifted his chin so he was looking at her and kissed him sweetly.
"Really?" She nodded. "More than Chris?" He said this part quietly.
"I know I really shouldn't, but yeah. I do." She too looked at the floor now. "How about me?"
"I never told anyone, but I've loved you more than her for a while now, but I didn't think you liked me."
"Eeeerm, look." He wrapped his arms around her waist. "Maybe we're with the wrong people." He looked into her eyes.
"You think they'd understand?" Her arms repositioned around his neck.
"I know that Chris would." He smiled. Chris was such a nice guy, he'd understand and forgive anything.
"Laurri?" She was worried.
"Somehow I don't think she'd understand the same." He shook his head. Sally looked around then back to his eyes.
"I think she'll be alright eventually." She leant up and kissed him silently. "I think we're gonna' do this." He nodded and put their joined hands in sight.
"Together forever." He nodded and they both smiled, leaning in to kiss again.
"Chris." Sally put her hands over his and held tight. "Look, you know I love you." He nodded. "I have a confession. I've been having an affair with Joel." He nodded. "For a while now."
"I know." He interrupted her and smiled slightly at the fact he already knew.
"Oh. How? Why? Why didn't you tell me to stop? Arn't you angry?"
"I walked in on you two kissing a few times, you never noticed, so I just left. I walked around, angry for a while but then I realised, why should I care? I have you, and if I'm not making you happy, then I should make any sacrefice to make sure you ARE happy and if it's Joel that makes you happy, even if it's behind my back, then it's fine by me."
"Oh, that's.......... that's so sweet, Chris." She pecked his lips. "Thankyou, but now I hate to do this but I've gotta ask you something." He nodded and awaited the question. "Are you ready to do anything to make me happy?"
"Anything." He confirmed.
"Well, if you truly want me to be happy then you'll accept that I think I'll be happier with Joel."
"Okay." He seemed fine with it. She looked to the matching rings on their fingers. It felt like it was burning. She imagined her hand was on fire, it was an uncomfortable feeling. He realised what she was looking at, he took his hands from under hers and slipped it off his finger. He passed it to her.
"Oh, no, I can't take that." She refused it politely. She took her ring off and held it in his direction. "I know you probably hate me now, so you can have this back. I doubt your offer still stands. He looked shocked.
"I think many things of you, but i certainly don't hate you. Even if you were having an affair with my best friend. Oh, and that offer, it always stands. Keep that ring close with you." She felt a single tear drop down her cheek as she smiled.
"Thanks. I love you, Chris." He smiled back.
"I love you too." She got up,.. and left.
"Laurri." Joel wasn't looking forward to this. "I know that there are a few people that you're going to want to murder after this....." She threw him an angry look. "But I'm begging you to not over-react." She nodded in a way that made it obvious that she wasn't agreeing to anything. "You know full well how I feel about Sally, right?" Now her eyes changed. No longer worried of what he was about to say, but more expectant. More murderous and more suspicious. Again she nodded. "Well, we've been having an affair,...... for a while now." She growled at this news, but surprisingly, she let him continue. "We've decided...." He knew it was obvious this was going to hurt her. "It would be easier, and alot less painful, if we......" He didn't know how to word it. "Me and Sally where dating." Once again, Laurri growled. "Which consiquently," That was a new word he'd learned from Sally :) "means, we wouldn't be anymore." She growled louder, got up and slapped him, hard, storming out the room. She slammed the door. Joel shrugged. Atleast she hadn't punched him. He looked over at his phone, then picked it up. Time to text Sally. he tapped at the keypad: It went okay really, she slapped me and stormed out but it could have been worse :)!
A violent and rapid knock was made on Sally's front door. She skipped down the stairs and across the living room to the door. She dusted down her clothes and put on her best smile. She reached for the door and slowly pulled it back with the smile set. Faster than she could blink, she was on the floor. What the hell just happened? She grasped one side of her face with her hand, it really hurt. She looked up with her other eye, Laurri was stood over her. "What did you do?" She snapped up, begining to try and stand up.
"You mean what did YOU do?" Laurri pushed her back to the floor and held her foot over Sally's chest so she couldn't get up.
"It was a joint decision Laurri, it's for the best." Laurri started to press a little. "Look. Would you rather he was with me and happy, or he was still with you, cheating and unhappy." Laurri growled and pushed her foot down a little harder, before releasing her and storming out the door. Sally grasped her hand over her ribcage, clurling her knees up a little. That hurt. She released the breath she had been storing in panic and relaxed a little. Her breathing returned to normal and she reached into the pocket of her jeans, pulling out her phone and texting Chris and Joel with the details of what just happened. She then took a deep breath and heaved herself to her feet, clutching her ribcage again. She lay on the sofa, standing hurt. She checked her phone again and there was a message from Joel, he was coming round, she told him to let himself in and not to worry. There was also a message from Chris who was also very concerned. She explained the feeling in her ribcage and that it was probably nothing. This sent Chris into a state of panic, he said it was some kind of big problem and insisted he came round but she told him Joel was on his way, and he was disheartened. He was still very polite, it must be killing him.
There was a knock at the door, Sally shouted for them to come in, it was Joel. He was by her side at once, his fingers entangled in her hair and his lips against hers. She put one arm around him the best she could lying down and he kissed her more intensley, she tried to fling the other arm around him but it really hurt so she stopped kissing him and clutched her ribs again. "Oh, I'm so sorry, did I hurt you? Was it too much? Have you changed your mind about us?" Joel got quieter every question.
"Oh, of course not! No, it's just my ribs hurt a bit, and trust me that definately wasn't too much." She winked. "And I have never been more enthusiastic about us." She smiled, but then winced as a shot of pain ran through her body.
"Are you okay?" He held her face with one hand. She nodded and forced a smile. It was nothing. "You look in pain." She shook her head. He looked deep into her eyes and softly brushed his lips against hers, pulling away after only a second and then moving his hands from her face very slowly and lightly down her body. He reached the bottom of her tee shirt and pulled it up so he could see the bottom few of her ribs. His warm hands against her cold boyd felt nice, so she left him. He moved his face close to her body so he could examine closer, she could feel his breath. He gently scanned each rib with his finger. She winced slightly. "I think you've got a broken rib." He whispered against her chest before leaning back up and pulling her shirt down. He lent forward and kissed her. She couldn't argue against him, his eyes wouldn't let her. "We're going to visit the doctor." He spoke in her ear and then he stood up and walked to the phone.
"Laurri?" Chris ran and grabbed her arm gently. She turned around and smiled sarcastically. "What went on with Sally earlier?"
"Hahahahahaha. Yeah. You and me have been ditched so that the lovebirds can live happily ever after." She spoke in an evil tone. She blaitently wasn't happy. She couldn't accept this like Chris could.
"Do you realise what you did?" He snapped slightly, but in a desperate way.
"Yeah, gave her what she deserved for stealing my boyfriend." She seemed proud.
"Look, I'm no doctor but what she has described sounds very much like you broke a rib." Just then he got a message on his phone. He read it and clamped his hand across his face in shock or disgrace. "They've just got back from the hospital, it is broken." He noticed a change in her expression. Now she looked shocked, maybe worried and dissapointed in herself.
"Oh my God, what have I done?" She gasped. "I must go and apologise."
"Yeah, you really should." His brow creased and he lead her towards Joel's place.
"Thank god I looked." Joel was stroking his finger across Sallys stomache gently. "This could have been unfixable if you'd left it." He lent to kiss her. She smiled a little. Moving her hands down onto her stomache, just above where Joel was stroking and just below her bad rib. He placed his hands on hers. "You're so cold." He worried. "Hang on." He very very gently lifted her and carried her up the stairs where he put her on his bed, floating the covers over her and climbing in with her. She snuggled close to him, he was so warm. He put his arms around her and she felt as though all the pain had dissapeared. it was just him and her. Then there was a knock downstairs. Joel yelled for them to come in and the door opened. Footsteps ran up stairs and the bedroom door opened to reveal Laurri and Chris, both pale and worried. Chris looked at them both sitting so close and if there was such a colour paler than white, he turned it. He managed to force out what could be interpreted as a smile before turning away and running back down the stairs. Joel realised then that this was so hard for him, and to see him and Sally in bed and so close, it must have really hurt. He got out of bed and told the girls he woul leave them to it before running after Chris. Chris was already half way down the street and Joel had to sprint to catch him. Chris' eyes where bloodshot and wet, his face was still so pale. Joel saw what trouble he had caused and threw his arms around Chris, pulling him so close to him. Chris burried his face into Joel's shoulder and silently cried. Joel held him close and tight. Luckily it was dark outside, nobody was around so they where free to do as they liked without being stared at. Plus, they could both be mistaken for girls anyway! "I'm so sorry," Joel whispered. "I'm sorry I've hurt you." Chris just held onto him tight. "I'm sorry for all of this. Everything." He knew Chris understood. He spoke no words, just hugged him tighter. They where in no state to return to the girls, so they walked.
Joel and Chris ended up in the park. They sat under a tree as it started to rain. Joel pulled Chris into a hug again. He couldn't stop feeling terrible. It was a horrible thing he had done to Chris, but it was so right for himself and for Sally and even for Laurri. Chris looked up into Joel's eyes. They where both silent and blurry eyed. The stare was intense, but it said all the words that where needed. Joel lent down and pushed his lips against Chris'. With his tongue he gently pulled Chris' lips apart and Chris linked his finger's with Joel's. They kissed intensley, changing hand positions throughout until eventually Chris stopped them. "Thanks." He smiled, still hurt, but feeling better. Joel brushed his hand along Chris' face.
"No problem, any time." He too smiled and kissed Chris again gently but for a much shorter time. They stood up as the rain began to slow and Joel spun round for a final kiss, resting a hand on Chris' ass. Chriss pulled his face away and looked at Joel with one eyebrow raised. "Too much?" Joel laughed. Chris shrugged and continued kissing him, putting his hands in the same place on Joel's body. Joel could feel a genuine smile on his lips, his work had been done.
Joel and Chris held hands on the way back from the park. They stopped just before they turned to their street. Joel turned to face Chris and hugged him tight. He whispered in his ear. "I'm sorry for all this. I hope you feel better after tonight." He then kissed him gently and they man hugged in a slight attemp to keep the little dignity they had. They walked down the road to Joel's place where the girls should be. Upstairs, they where having a human conversation. The guys walked in and they both stopped their conversation and waved. Joel walked and sat with Sally, putting his arm round her and kissing her gently. Sally kissed him back and smiled happily. This was nice. "You guy's staying?" Joel asked the other two.
"Sure." Laurri nodded and Chris just smiled.
"Great. Well, I'll get the night-time supplies." Joel beamed and nobody knew what he was talking about. He went downstairs and then re-appeared a few minutes later. He had his arms full of different things. A few bottles of different drinks, a few lighters, a tin of tobacco, a few boxes of fags and a couple of little plastic bags filled with a leafy thing. It was weed. He held his arms up to show everybody and they all smiled. This was what they lived for. Tonight would be good.
The four of them had got through a bottle of vodka each. They were smashed! Sally drunkardly waved the lighter infront of the fag in her mouth. She eventually lit it and the others watched in amazement, facinated by such a simple thing. They all re-engaged in conversation. By now they had more friends around. Nobody remembered inviting anybody, but none of them really remembered anything! The room was very noisey. Chris was sat next to Sally. "Hello baby." He whispered in her ear over the noise. She smiled. "You know, you look pretty." He slurred slightly.
"You look pretty too." She touched his nose with the end of her finger. Fag in the other hand, out to the side.
"You know whats so cool?" He whispered again.
"I know you're so cool." She put her hand on his face. She laughed.
"It's so cool that I love you!" He said it a little louder. She smiled wide and then pounced on him, kissing him in a very very very drunk way, fag still in the other hand. He grabbed her and kissed her back. Just then, Joel looked over. He stopped talking and stopped laughing. He walked over to them. They stopped kissing and both laughed. Joel sat down with them.
"What?" He slurred. "What are you two doing?" They where silent. Then all of them burst out laughing and Joel lent over to kiss Sally. Laurri stumbled over to them and sat down. She looked a little hurt when she saw them kissing, but it didn't really bother her, the drugs helped. They where sat talking in their group, each spreading off into seperate conversations. Before too long the situation had completely reversed. Or had it returned the right way round? Chris and Sally where all over eachother, as where Joel and Laurri. It was weird after earlier, but none of them really knew what had happened.
Morning came, a hurting painfull hangovered morning. Sally was the first to wake up. She opened her eyes and clamped her hand over her head, slowly waiting for her eyes to adjust. She blinked a few times and sat up, realising she was in a bed. Quickly she lay back down again, noticing the lack of clothes. It was Joel's bed. Oh no, What had she done? She was in Joel's bed, she'd been very drunk and she was distinctly lacking clothes. Somebody moved below the covers beside her. Oh no, please don't let it be Joel. She thought. Laurri will literally pull my eyes out and shove them up my ass. Carefully, she pulled back the cover a little and dared herself to see who it was. It was Chris. She was so relieved. After last night, she had a feeling everything was going to go back to normal. She was right. Joel stirred, waking up and looking over to Sally. He was on the floor with Laurri sprawled across his legs. "I think things are over Sal." He sounded apologetic and a little disappointed it hadn't worked out.
"Yeah." She smiled sympathetically. "I know." They nodded at eachother. Chris and Sally belonged, about as well as Sally and Joel did. But Laurri and Joel also went well. It just wasn't fair of Sally. This was right.
