Chris lay on the soaked ground in the field. He closed his eyes tight and let the pouring rain splatter across his face. He lifted his bare arms and ran his fingers through his hair, he relaxed his eyes and sighed. He was unbearably cold, but he didn't care. It just made everything else easier. He wondered how Sally was coping.
Sally was sat alone in the woods. Streams of tears rolled down her face, splashing onto her arms, legs and the ground. Her right hand moved quickly back and fourth across her left wrist, clutching a semi-blunt knife. She had difficulty breathing and all she wanted right now was to be dead. To never have to hear the name Chris again, to never see his face again and never feel his presance again. Most of the rain couldn't reach her through the thick trees, but the sound helped to drown out her screams. "I
love you!" She cried quietly "I LOVE YOU!" She shouted this time. "I LOVE YOU!" She screamed it at the top of her voice.
Chris didn't realise, he was only a few fields away from her and he heard her scream. He jolted up-right and became alert, his eyes wide. "Sally?" He used his loudest shout, as much as he was trying to avoid her, she sounded like she was having serious troubles. He stood up and shouted again. "Sally?" He began to sprint across the field. Through the rain, he heard the cries of pain from the woods, he knew it was Sally. He continued shouting her name through his own tears and he moved faster than he'd ever moved before. He couldn't stand to hear her in pain. He darted through the trees, looking everywhere around. "SALLY!" He bellowed.
Sally saw the fast flowing stream of blood break through her skin and trickle down her arm. She was almost there. A few more minutes with this knife and she would be gone forever, no more pain, no more sacrafice, no more Chris. She got back to work. "Sally!" She heard a mans voice. It sounded like Chris. She must be near the end, an angels voice, impossible to be real, but so incredibley irresistable. She cleared the tears from her cheek and flattened her hair out, ready to die. "SALLY!" She heard again as she felt the knife on her bloody wrist. She sighed with a smile. An angel's voice, come to take me, she thought. She looked ahead of her and took a deep breath, she took a final look around and whispered "goodbye" under her breath when she saw a shape. It looked like Chris.
"An angel." She smiled. Chris ran towards her and slid to the floor beside her.
"Oh my god, Sally." He saw her wrist. "Come here, sweetheart."He had to hold her up so she didn't fall to the floor. "Sally." He whispered, she wasn't talking. Just smiling. She still only thought he was a figure of her imagination, not the real thing. His arms tightened around her as the blood from her wrist soaked into his pure white shirt. He held her face in one hand and despite what he had said before, he kissed her. She unenthusiasticly kissed him back and smiled stupidly.
"Hello pretty angel. You can take me now if you like. Just pass me my knife and I can finish this." She held out her hand.
"Don't be stupid Sally." He pulled her into his chest. "I'm not an angel, it's me. Chris." He kissed her again, and lowered her to the floor. "I'm not letting you near a knife ever again." He once again, pushed his lips into hers, she lay on the floor happily, thinking she was dead. "Why did you do this?" He asked her quietly, his lips only a few centimetres from hers. She didn't reply. "Sally. Why?" She lifted her good hand and stroked his face.
"I feel strange." She chuckled. He looked around to see a pool of blood all over the floor.
"You've lost alot of blood, Sally. We have to get you to a hospital soon. She looked up at him, and with her hand behind her head, she tred to pull his head down to kiss her, she didn't have much strength atall. He put his head lower and kissed her passionately. She began to kiss him back, just as well, but failed. Her eyes closed and she stopped kissing him. She fell limp.
"Sally?" He panicked. "Sally?" He spoke faster and more urgently. He felt her pulse. It was there, but very weak and an odd pace. He didn't have long. Chris ran his fastest towards the hospital, he had Sally in his arms and she was still enconcious. He ran into the hospital and rushed her straight into the closest door he could find.
Chris, Joel and Laurri sat in the corridoor, waiting. Nobody spoke. Laurri sat on Joel's knee and he had his arms around her, tightly. Chris was sat the other side, his head in his hands, silently crying. Nobody dared to talk to him, he was in too much pain. He knew this was his fault and he would do anything to rewind back to before they had broken up. Right now, nobody knew if she would survuive and Chris had already decided that he wouldn't let himself survuive if she didn't. He played her voice over in his head, every happy moment, every sad moment. He missed her. Laurri stood up off of Joel's lap. Her eyes where red, and she could only just talk. she sat down by Chris and wrapped her arms around him, he ok his head from his hands and he, too wrapped his arms around her. Laurri lent up and kissed his cheek and he sighed, quietly. "What happened, Chris?" She whispered in his ear. He sighed again, letting her go slightly.
"I couldn't take it anymore. I walked in on her hugging my mate, and I thought she was cheating, I got her aside and told her that we where finished. I told her I never ever wanted to kiss her again, I never wanted to touch her again and I never even wanted to talk to her. I wanted her as far out of my life as I could get her. I promised her, we would never get back together again now. There was no other chances. She tried to explain the truth about her and my mate, but I ust told her I didn't want to hear it. I didn't. I ment it, I didn't want her anywhere near me again, ever. I still felt like that, but I heard her screaming and I just had to find her. I needed to know she was okay, and of course, she wasn't." He sniffed as he finished his story. Laurri kissed his cheek again and nuzzled into his chest. He sighed and took her chin in his hand, lifting it so she was looking at him. "Thank you, Laurri." He said and he kissed her lips, she moved her hands to the back of his head, and kissed him back. Their kiss became more intense, more interesting. Chris slid his other hand around her and held her.
"Hey, hey, hey. Excuse me. No." Joel stood up and walked over to them. "I know this is a very very sad time, but please." He put his arm between them and they seperated, unwillingly.
"I'm sorry Joel. I just needed somebody to kiss me." Chris hung his head again. Joel nodded, took Laurri's hand and took her back to the chair she was on before, he walked back to Chris and sat by him.
"Chris." He pecked his lips. "I'm so sorry about this, you know whatever happens, I'll always help you to get through." He put his hands on Chris' face and lent towards him. He began to kiss Chris. Chris hugged him but then pushed him away when he began to feel Joel trying to part his lips with his tongue.
"I did want a kiss, and thank you, but please, avoid the bi with me, Joel." He smirked and pecked his lips quickly, releasing him.
The mood in the hall was lifted a little after that. The three talked every once in a while. This soon changed when five nurses ran into Sally's room, looking worried. The corridoor went silent and once again it was obvious, Chris was blaming himself completely again. They sat like this for another hour, untill a doctor in a long white coat stepped into the hall. "Erm, Chris?" The doctor spoke, clipboard in hand. Chris stood up. "Yes. Your friend, Sally." He examined his chart. Chris looked deadly serious. "We are very hopefull. Although the chances arn't good, we think she's going to survuive." Chris looked sad still.
"The chances arn't good?" His voice was deep and low and he was struggleing to keep his voice at one tone.
"No." The doctor shook his head. "She did alot of damage." Chris flopped back into his chair and put his head in his hands again. "But, with the progress she's made so far, it's looking quite good." Chris nodded.
"Thanks." Joel answered for him. The doctor nodded, but on his way back into the room he stopped.
"You can come in and see her if you like?" Chris jolted up again and walked slowly into the room.
Joel and Laurri waited in the corridoor while Chris went in to see Sal. He stood, leaning over her, he kissed her lips lightly. Her eyes where still closed, she was still enconcious. He listened to the beep of the machine keeping her alive. Her heartbeat was still weak and odd. Chris let his tears hit her and suddenly, her eyes flickered. "Sally?" He whispered. Her eyes slowly opened to reveal the chocolate brown colour he loved so much. "Sally?" He spoke, relieved. She smiled and laughed.
"This in't anything like I imagined it, angel." She was still a little delerious from the lack of blood.
"You're not dead, Sally. It's me. Chris." He lent down and kissed her.
"So, I never did it? I never died?" She almost seemed dissapointed she wasn't dead. He shook his head. "Then kill me." Chris frowned and shook his head. "Kill me now." She was serious. "I don't want to live without you, please kill me." Chris took her hand.
"I will never kill you." He kissed her arm. "It's alright now. I love you, I want you, I need you, Sal." Sally looked at him and smiled.
"You're so hot when you're desperate." She smiled. "I have never wanted you more than I do right now." She growled and Chris laughed.
"Give it a few more years, babe." He smiled. "You're all morphined up."
"I mean it." She was serious. "I want you, now." She smiled and she bought his hand to her face and licked it.
"Err, you're only 14, Sal. I don't think so." He stood up, wiped his hand on his trousers and kissed her. "You're high on morphine and I dread to think what else. I'll see you later." He smiled and walked out the door.
"She's doing fine." Chris smiled to the doctor, Joel and Laurri. "Although you might want to lower her dosage of whatever you're giving her. She basically just tried asked me to do her." He laughed, and the doctor looked disgusted as the others burst out in fits of laughter.
A week later, Chris lay on the soaked ground in the field. He closed his eyes tight and let the pouring rain splatter across his face. He lifted his bare arms and ran his fingers through his hair, he relaxed his eyes and sighed. He was unbearably cold, but he didn't care. It just made everything more special. Sally ran her tongue up his arm and he smiled, kissing her neck. She took hold of him and rolled ontop of him. "I'm glad you're back, gorgeous." He kissed her again. "I love you."
